The Recipe
Matar Paneer is one of the most popular North Indian paneer dishes. It is a simple preparation which can be made with the easily available, everyday ingredients in our home kitchen. Be it a simple weekday lunch or a fancy dinner party, a well-made Matar Paneer is always a delight! - MAGGI Bhuna Masala Gravy - 1 pack
- Turmeric Powder - ½ teaspoon
- Red Chilli Powder - ½ teaspoon
- Coriander Powder - 1 teaspoon
- Peas - 200 gms, shelled
- Paneer - 300 gms, cut into cubes
- Water - 2 cups (300 ml)
- Salt - To taste
- Coriander Leaves - 2 tablespoons, chopped
The Easy Steps
Step 1
Put the Maggie Bhuna Masala in a Pressure Cooker and stir it for 1 minute. Then add Turmeric Powder, Red Chilli Powder and Coriander Powder. Fry this for 1 minute.
Step 2
Add
Peas and Saute for 2-3 minutes. Then add Paneer Cubes, Water and Salt
to taste. Mix this well and then cover the Pressure Cooker and cook for 2
minutes after the first whistle. Garnish with Coriander Leaves and
serve it hot !

Tasty Dum Aloo
This Recipe of Dum Aloo here consists of the following ingredients :-
1. Cashew Nuts
2. Onions
3. Curd and
4. Spices
Tomatoes are not added.
You can serve this dish with Chapatis, Poori, Bhakri, Roti, Nan and also with Parathas. If you can make good Chapatis, people will simply love to eat this dish with Chapatis (Fresh and Hot)
For this recipe to become more tasty and delicious -
You can seal the Pan very tight and slowly cook the Gravy in it.
Potatoes and Gravy, both are Dum Cooked.

RECIPE
Tip
Quantities given below are just indicators. You can decide upon the quantity of your ingredients depending upon the Number of people attending the Lunch / Dinner.
1. Take approx 250 gms of Small Potatoes. Rinse and Scrub the Potatoes very well in water.
2. Take 2.5 Cups of Water and Boil it.
3. Put the Rinsed and Scrubbed Potatoes in the Boiling Water.
4. Cover the Pan with a lid and Cook the Potatoes with a Medium Flame.
5. Continue the Cooking till the Potatoes are almost cooked. Do not overcook the Potatoes, else they will become too soft and thus would not be in the condition of being used in this recipe.
6. Remove all the water and let the Potatoes cool naturally to Room Temperature.
7. Now the Potatoes are ready to be cooked in this Dum Aloo recipe. You can peel the Potatoes completely or you can keep the Skin along, as per your choice and liking.
Now making the Gravy for Aum Aloo
Tip
1. You can start with this part while the Potatoes are kept for cooking.
2. Again, the quantities mentioned are only mere indicators. You can decide on the quantities of the ingredients depending upon the number of people taking part in your dinner / lunch party.
Recipe for Gravy
1. Take about 12 Cashew Nuts and about 1/2 cup of Boiling Water and soak the Cashew Nuts in the Hot water for approx 30 minutes.
2. Now you will need the following :-
- Grinder
- Approx 1 Cup full of Chopped Onions
- 1/2 size Chopped Ginger
- Medium sized chopped Garlic Cloves 4-6
- 1/3 teaspoonful Fennel Seeds
- Add the Soaked Cashew Nuts to this mixture
3. Add approx 2-3 Tablespoons of Water and grind the above mixture to a Paste.
Tip
You can decide upon the quantity of Water depending upon how thick you want the Paste to be.
4. Now take approx 1/4 or 1/3 cup of Fresh Curd and add it to the Paste and blend it till the Curd mixes completely with the paste. Stop blending once you see the Curd has completely mixed with the paste.
5. Take 2 Tablespoonfuls of Ghee (Cow Ghee is the best) in a Pan and heat it till the Ghee is hot.
6. Now you will need to add the following unchopped full ingredients into the hot Ghee kept on a medium flame :-
- 1 inch Cinnamon
- 2 Cloves
- 2 Cardamoms
- 1 Medium Tej Patta (Kadi Patta in India)
- About 1/2 teaspoonful of Jeera (Caraway Seeds)
Now heat this mixture and let it crackle. (This is called Tadka in India)
7. Now add the Onion Curd paste to this mixture and keep the flame medium.
8. Mix it very well keeping the flame on medium.
9. Now cover the Pan tightly with it's lid and cook this paste with a medium flame.
Tips
- Keep the lid very tight.
- A lot of spluttering happens in the Pan.
- Hence keep checking regularly after sometime and do not let the paste stick to the lid. If it does, remove it immediately and cover the Pan with the lid again.
- Keep stirring the mixture very well every time you remove the lid to check.
- If you use a transparent lid for the Pan, you can see whether the paste after spluttering comes up and sticks to the lid, so you can open it and clean and stir everytime it happens.
10. Cook the paste on a medium flame till it's colour changes and ghee is seen floating on the sides and the top of the mixture.
11. Once the Paste is cooked, now you will need to take following ingredients to add to the Paste :-
½ Teaspoonful of
- Red Chilli Powder /OR/ Kashmiri Red Chilli Powder
- Turmeric Powder
- Garam Masala Powder
and
- Coriander Powder (Ground Coriander)
Add all the above Spice Powders to the Paste and mix them well with the paste.
12. Once the mixture is blended well and ready, now add and mix the Potatoes to the Mixture.
13. Now add 1 Cup full of Water to the mixture.
14. Now mix the Salt and mix it very well to get the desired taste.
Now the Dum Aloo is ready to be Cooked
1. Now first seal the Pan with a Silver foil and then cover it with a Lid.
2. Keep a low flame and cook the mixture slowly or approx 12-15 mins and then put off the flame and let it cool till approx 4-6 mins.
3. Now open the lid and remove the foil.
Now your Dum Aloo is almost ready
Add some chopped Coriander leaves and mix them very well
Now your Dum Aloo is ready to be served
Dum Aloo can be served with any of the following :-
Chapatis, Nan, Poori, Bhakri, Roti
People will also like to eat Dum Aloo can be served with :-
Masala Rice, Jeera Rice
